Coincidentally, lots of things about collecting have been coming up. If you're in the Toronto area, there is a lecture at the Art Gallery of Mississauga today about starting a collection.


ARTalk: Starting a Collection
On Saturday September 19th join art collectors Bill Clarke and York Lethbridge as well as Mark Buck, Specialist in Canadian Art at Sotheby's Canada, as they talk about their growing collections of contemporary art and early Canadian furniture.

Everyone is welcome to attend this FREE event.

Speaking of collecting affordable art, Bad at Sports has ten reasons why you should start collecting art when you're young. Of course, they're talking about bonafide original art (and not $20 prints) but I think it can go both ways.

Here's an excerpt:
